Day 4

Today I am embarking on a shift in my training and soon to my business. As we move through our careers, many hope for a steady, comfortable progression of knowledge, skills, and opportunities.

I started my real estate career after Katrina in New Orleans – we did not have a bust because there was no inventory to meet the demands of people trying to get back home. I worked with commercial properties, distressed and REO sales, as well as being thrown into Section 8 Property Management. This wide variety of experience led me to expand my curiosity about other opportunities in real estate.

After 4 years as a agent I made the leap into investing myself. Since my partner was a contractor it made sense to start flipping. With plenty of damaged properties in the area, we began working on historic preservations, complete flood and guts, as well as restoring many homes across the area. We built a great team and consistently helped people move back to NOLA.

After living in New Orleans for over a decade, it was time to start the next chapter. We landed in Edgewater, Florida – on the east coast south of Daytona Beach and north of Cape Canaveral – nestled at the south end of the last great real estate expansion.

We were fortunate to get into some good investments that taught us more than we ever thought. I was a real estate agent and he was a contractor so surely we knew what we were doing! Kind of. LOL
